I actually don’t personally own guns. I have friends, family, and neighbors who do, however. But I 100% stick up for their American Right to Arm Themselves.
My dad always owned guns. He learned as a kid to shoot (helped by a brother who worked in an ammo factory, and brought boxes of ammo home with him). By the time he was 11-12, he was widely known as a guy who could “shoot a squirrel in the eye at 100 yards or more”. That may have been an exaggeration, but he did make sharpshooter in training.
He escaped having to use guns in the war by being assigned to the artillery. He likely made the cut by excellent math skills - although he’d dropped out of school in the first few months of 9th grade. At that time, in the late 1930s, a grade school education covered the basics of what kids get today, although without the grade inflation that has students still relying on counting on their fingers getting at least a B. That included sufficient geometric and trig knowledge to allow them to easily calculate angles, determine ratios, and handle probability questions (a VERY handy skill for my father, who used it to make a tidy side income in poker).
In the artillery, soldiers had to calculate trajectory, and use the results to position the guns in the correct direction and height. That was my dad’s wheelhouse, and those skills later allowed him to sneak past requirements for a graduation diploma into skilled jobs, and later, a position as an engineering technician at a major company.
He continued to own guns, both handguns and a rifle, over my mother’s objections. He stored them in a hall closet, without locking them up. He didn’t bother, as he put it, “because I didn’t raise stupid kids”.
Not to put down my dad’s thinking, but that was also the time when many kids weren’t on strong psychotropic drugs. None of us kids had even heard of pot, and I don’t believe LSD was even invented then (it may have been, but was not widely used in the circles I ran in). I lived just outside of Cleveland, OH, in a city that was almost overwhelmingly married people with kids, who paid their bills, and ‘went to bed at a decent hour’.
Now, a few years later, when my brother and sister were in high school, was a very different environment. But the life I lived was quite sheltered.
Despite not owning guns, I strongly support the 2nd Amendment. Which brings me to this:
Part 1.5 - The Plot to Justify the Steal
This is designed to be on EVERY media site, show, and social media outlet, overwhelming all of the people who think, “No smoke without FIRE!”
Of COURSE it’s slanderous and completely gossip-based - the people promoting it used cut-outs - guys who are generally retired, or who don’t depend on a steady paycheck from an employer who would fire them for their actions.
Of COURSE it’s ludicrously over-the-top in its claims.
Of COURSE it’s already been refuted by the family of the soldier involved.
No matter.
The decision was made, all media have their marching orders, and the false story WILL dominate the American Media until the election.
At which point, it will disappear. And, all involved will immediately start talking about how we have to forget all about the deliberate action designed to stop Trump with lies and slander, and get on with the business of Bringing America Together Again!
Doesn’t matter who wins. They will sing the same song. And, if Kamala “wins” and Trump pursues it, they will recommence the lawfare times 100. While conveniently sidestepping, delaying, and using the judicial system to keep him from bringing this to court, until it’s too late to salvage his money, reputation, or freedom.
RFK, Jr. on the Harris speech labeling/libeling Trump as a Fascist. He should know.
The questions below are only so I can get a quick check of something I’ve been suspecting for a long time - polls are getting to be useless, unless the participant is trying to display their allegiance to their party. For most, it’s a waste of time and an invasion of privacy.
I have trouble understanding why people of other nationalities do not take weapon rights more seriously, especially those who came from countries that had suffered totalitarianism and genocide. Some of my thoughts,
