If you read nothing else this week, I urge you to follow this link. Matt Taibbi lays out the manner in which the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) has become terribly, horribly twisted into a new idea:
That GOVERNMENT has the right to invade its citizens’ lives at will, “for their own good”, of course.
Yes, I meant that phrase sarcastically.
It’s just one more indicator that we need to root out those Entitled Elites (EEs) who are clogging our government with their poisonously warped conception of Who Properly Serves Whom.
Hint: I, and many others, believe that it’s THEY who SHOULD be serving the public - US.
A sure sign that someone needs to leave their place of power is that they have taken on the pre-French Revolution Aristocratic Mien of One Whose Actions Cannot Be Challenged by Mere Peasants! I don’t want to scream “Off with their heads!”, just to quietly hand them their pink slip, and make a note in their file that they should NEVER, EVER be hired by any level of government, including educational or academic institutions.
Perhaps that could be understood as making them persona non grata (PNG) for all time.
Oh, sure, they would be free to work in private industry - providing that business didn’t accept government money. But, it would keep them from using government income to spread their toxic sense of superiority through public organizations.
