Who in the Secret Service Lied?
Cheatle? Probably.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi? Maybe.
He may have, like so many people in dysfunctional organizations, simply been denied the information about the Trump Campaign’s requests for extra protection.
In other words, he may have been LIED to by those who had the correct information. This sometimes is done to official spokesmen/persons, in order that their utterances appear truthful.
There really does not seem to be a reason for Cheatle to have told Dr. Jackson, one medical doctor who examined Trump at the time of the shooting, that Trump’s requests - multiple requests - were NOT denied before the shooting. Cheatle did say so, in the official meeting he attended.
Look, the people who surround the president in various agencies are a mixed bag:
Competent people, working hard to do their jobs.
IN-competent people, working hard to CYA. Many of them continue to hold their jobs because of political connections.
Political appointees, whether in jobs that are explicitly political, or those who were moved into positions in which they could receive that un-fireable status conveyed by Civil Service. Not actually un-fireable, but the process is so time-consuming that it might as well be.
Moles. That’s essentially the case of Leftists who have burrowed into the permanent bureaucracy, but who are not open about their political positions. These are the ones that don’t LEAD the agencies, but are highly influential, nonetheless. Ejecting them from government may be a near-impossible task, unless some serious investigative work is done (like that done during the so-called McCarthy Era). Hiss is one example of a mole.
Trump is being careful to provide armed security around his campaign offices in FL and Washington, DC. He previously employed his own security people when he first took office.
Long before the shooting, convention organizers had clashed with the Secret Service over the location of protest zones at the convention. RNC leaders repeatedly asked officials to keep protesters farther back than had been originally planned, arguing that an existing plan “creates an elevated and untenable safety risk to the attending public.”
But, short of using private security contractors, Trump appears to be at the dubious mercy of the Secret Service - which has not been truthful about security protocols, nor performing those protections at a level that fits their desired reputation.
The recent push to get more women in the protective details has compromised safety in the past. One intruder into the White House was able to push past the female agent he encountered.
The 3 female agents working the Butler campaign event appear to be both small and not terribly fit, but also uncertain in their reactions to the shooting. That would make sense, given the differential standards for fitness, and a recent assignment to the campaign’s detail.
Look, normally, assignment to the President’s detail or other top officials is a matter of time and proven ability. It can take YEARS to be moved into those positions.
But, the female agents are, apparently, young. Too young to have gained experience commensurate with having EARNED those spots.
It would seem that DEI was more important than the possibility of Trump being assassinated. More paranoid people than I would question whether that was the PLAN.
