The Wonders of Sobriety
I’ve been a complete non-drinker since around 2020. At that time, I was diagnosed with RA, and the meds I used were hard on my liver. For that reason, the doctor warned me about drinking, even a little, and said that I could fall into liver damage.
I took it seriously. On a rare occasion, I might have a small drink (twice so far in the years since). Other than that, I’ve mostly drunk water, coffee, or tea. I don’t miss the drinking - I was not all that fond of the effects, and I did not have trouble not drinking in groups.
If you know an alcoholic or addict, support their efforts to get, and remain, sober. It can take a few years, and some slips along the way.
I know - I quit smoking almost 45 years ago. It was probably the most difficult habit I’ve ever struggled with. I doubt that I would still be alive or in good health at 72 had I not quit.
Making major changes in your life are not easy. Respect those that do.
