The Missing People In Our Lives

I truly don’t understand the desire to polarize, reject, demonize, and destroy opponents that seems to reside in too many people. It isn’t sufficient to state, “I disagree with you completely about politics, and, for that matter, many social and cultural topics”.

No, they have to go over the top, accusing me of wanting poor/Black/Minority/Jewish/LGBT+/anyone who doesn’t worship Nazis/Fascists to die.

Now, I hope it’s clear that none of the preceding accusations are true. I want no one to die, at least without a proper trial for capital crimes, IF they committed them.

Other than that, I wish all people long and happy lives. At least if they are willing to finance them without my assistance (those who are truly incapable of self-support may need some help).

But, here’s the thing - I resent the blanket accusations, the smearing of my character and reputation (based on what they THINK I might support/believe), and the vindictive bans that hurl to a Virtual Siberia all who won’t publicly affirm that they deviate in NO way from any random beliefs that Leftists/Liberals/Progressives hold.

They emulate the Puritan example - all who will not get completely in line with any and all demands are EVIL, and deserve to be cast out of the Promised Land.

Ironically, they like to think of themselves as Free Thinkers, Open-Minded, and Accepting.

Which, they are not.

So, because they cannot bring themselves to associate with the UnGodly (those who persist in their disturbing tendency to think for themselves), there are Empty Chairs at Family/Friend Gatherings.

Trump isn’t the problem. Heck, even his supporters admit that he has been known to speak off the cuff, and - at times - unwisely.

But, the Fervent New Puritans mine their social media actively, looking for any words that they can then hurl at their opponents, with the intent of forcing them to exit the political stage. They don’t want to defeat them at the polls, they want to force them into Social Oblivion. They want them to be threatened with loss of their jobs, should they DARE to express a Non-Leftist Opinion. They want them to have to defend themselves against SLAPP lawsuits, SWATTING, and exile from any degree of social interaction. Since most people aren’t Money Machines, most do, in fact, back down.

It’s time for the Overly Fervent Leftists to experience some of the ill effects of overreach. Time for THEM to have to pay the price for spreading smears about innocent people. Time for THEM to have to pay for using the power of government and large corporations to force people to endure poorly tested medical treatment against their will.

Time for them to quit that - er - Stuff.
