I don’t watch it, but the sounds of women bitchin’ in the morning surrounds me on most days.
The View’s schedule coincides with my husband’s usual breakfast time. He’s a late sleeper, and seldom rises before 9-9:30, at the earliest.
He enjoys seeing nice-looking women (yeah, I know, but a couple of them, and some of their guests, are). So, most days, it’s playing in the background.
I’ve long been up by then, working on finances, writing, or just catching up on the online news. I don’t really mind.
Other than The View, he watches the game show channel, and some of the network morning shows - including, surprisingly, Fox News.
Yeah, I know. He only watches for the pretty women.
As a result, he is mostly steeped in mainstream news and opinions. Hey, I’ve been married 50 years, you have to make some compromises to reach that point.
He is like a lot of people - they form their opinions and tastes young, and seldom change. Annoying, but I really do love him.
I had a scare last night.
I woke in the middle of the night, and couldn’t hear him breathing. I reached out, and his skin was ice-cold. I checked for a pulse, and couldn’t find one.
Alarmed, I jumped out of bed, went around to his side, and shook his arm.
He woke. Scared the crap out of me.
I told him what happened, and he just went back to sleep, which I did, too.
This morning, I mentioned the episode, and he replied, “You think it scared the Hell out of You! I could have actually died!”
We had a small, but lovely get-together for Labor Day. Only one of the people there had to go to work. It’s hard to fully appreciate a day off if you don’t have a job.
On the way home, we delivered a surprise for our grandson. He has some visual issues, and I thought a Kindle would be appreciated. When he opened it, he got so excited, he could barely stand it.
I told his parents that it has many advantages over his school-provided laptop, or an iPad, and that would be fewer distractions. It’s for reading/listening to books only (well, and magazines). The fact that the font can be enlarged, as well as have the font style changed, is a big plus.
The Kindle Kids+ comes preloaded with a library of books (probably mostly copyright free), and has some tools to make reading easier, as well.
I’ve used Kindles for years, and the advantages - lightweight, ability to read in a dark room, durability, and ability to change the light level of what you read - are good incentives for purchase.
Hubby and I are on the same page about most things. I'm happy about that.
Scary on him not breathing. Frightening. I'm glad it turned out well.
Have a fabulous day and week. ♥
