Sorry this is short - I just returned from walking the dog in the wind and rain. I’m in the recliner, my feet are in the air, and I’m warming up. The short walk was directed by my wussy pooch - he hates rain, and is even less excited by a brisk wind.
He’s entitled; by dog standards, he’s an old guy - 15 years this January. So, he gets shorter and more frequent walks. It’s also easier on me, as my knees aren’t up to very long ones most of the time.
I attended HamSCI last Friday and Saturday - very interesting conference, but a lot of walking, including up and down stairs.
After the eclipse, it’s a quick month until HamVention in Xenia, OH. It’s one of the biggest amateur get-togethers of the year, and one that I’m going to, in large part, because I’m meeting a buddy in Columbus, and spending a few days enjoying being with another YL (female Ham).
Right now, in the greater Cleveland area, we’re all watching the weather, and hoping for a break in the clouds for the eclipse. I’ll spend much of the next week digging out our collection of eclipse glasses, probes and sensors, our Vernier LabPros, and making sure that our laptops and tablets are charged and up to date with our OS and apps.
This would be my second total eclipse in 7 years. Unlike the previous eclipse, this one is going through multiple major cities (a lot of the previous eclipse’s path was through relatively sparsely inhabited plains).
Never underestimate the value of propaganda in war or ‘peace’. I had a professor (a devout Leftist) who told me to take claims of torture and oppression with a heavy dose of skepticism.
And, below, a true statement:
This is sad:
I formerly lived in SC - this is NOT an exaggeration.
A good idea.
As for this last meme, yeah, I’ve long thought that, too. There will be a HUGE business opportunity for mechanics/hackers who can de-install those components of vehicles.
Soon, Real SOON.
That’s all for now.
