The fight doesn’t have to be a bloody shootout. It can be principled resistance against the dictates of an oppressive state.
Here are some reasons to continue fighting, and stories of those who resisted. Some of these are stories of war, others of resistance to criminals. The bottom line: NEVER stop fighting. ALWAYS continue the fight.
Now, this used to be understood. The old book (NOT the 70s movie that was a complete mess) Invasion of the Body Snatchers shows the value of continuing to fight. Unlike the movie made of it, the Earthlings that resisted succeeded in getting the space invaders to leave. The movie changed that ending, probably to send a not-so subtle message that the people destroying your civilization and your people will win, in the end.
In contrast, the end of the book quotes Churchill - here is a portion of the original speech:
We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
That is NOT the viewpoint of someone who is going to quit to save his life
And, that’s the viewpoint we need to take towards people who will not scruple to take our lives, but also our means of earning a living, our right to an education, our freedoms of speech and to bear arms, even our right to be free of government-mandated injections (‘for our own good’).
We need to ‘get up in their grill’ as it used to be said in the hood. Not threatening, not generally with weapons, but with the firm determination not to comply with their unconstitutional directives or public bullying.
If we are arrested, we need to fight. We need to support those who do fight - bring them food, money, help with childcare - and make sure that the state or its delegated minions cannot use their family to force them to quit.
