'Explaining' the Olympics Last Supper to the Ignorant
Because, Only an Ignorant Person Would MISinterpret
Glad that’s clarified. We, who are Practicing Christians*, have COMPLETELY misunderstood the Deeply Meaningful and Artistically Important Not-the-Last-Supper Olympics Opening Ceremony.
It was NOT intended to be a parody - good or bad - of The Last Supper, the iconic painting by Leonardo da Vinci.
Goodness, NO!
They can KINDA understand how those deluded and ignorant Christians could have misunderstood. It takes a Nuanced understanding of artistic expression, LGBT+ culture (which, of course, NONE of us have any acquaintance with), and a willingness to be - at best - indifferent to the sensibilities of religious people.
Well, at least the sensibilities of Christians.
Couldn’t do the same to Hindus or Muslims, or, for that matter, Buddhists. Those ‘peaceful’ practitioners have, in the recent past, reacted VIOLENTLY towards those expressing what they considered blasphemy against their beliefs.
Eh, better stick to Christian-Bashing. The media will give you a cover, and insist that those misguided and ignorant people just didn’t have the ‘smarts’ to understand.
* Practicing Christians is a code-word for “I do not follow any part of the Christian faith, either by respectfully participating, not criticizing ANY aspect of that faith, or being capable of correctly explaining the tenets of that faith.”
But, but, but…
Apparently not. Or, at least, not against one of the Fascists (the OFs - Original Fascists) FORMERLY most anti-intellectual actions, book-banning.
So far, it’s just conservatives and other Non-Leftists. Now, it’s also writers who have the temerity to support Trump.
Can’t wait until they - once again - expand that list to Jews.

Are you up-to-date on your antidepressants? Has your therapist deemed you capable of hearing bad news without needing to call the Suicide Help Line?
For the rest of us, it’s a Must-Read. We need to know the truth, and prepare (although I HOPE you’ve already begun, Late is better than Never).
Black Swans vs Predictable Events - here’s the link.
Is a Kamala Harris presidency inevitable?
Not ALL French people are Woke. Many see the reality that the French intelligentsia is fervently trying to ignore.
So what’s the attraction?
Well, in many, if not most, cases, the relationship was a congenial one. The women had free management - of course, within Islamic rules - of their homes and children (until marriage age).
Most were not required to work. Others were subtly encouraged not to work, OR, to work when they really didn’t want to. It was seldom their free choice, but directed by their husband AND his family. It’s one of the many things that women experienced “for the good of the family”.
That’s typical of Muslim households. The wives and children subordinate their personal desires to the preferences of those in charge. That might be the husband, the eldest man in the house, or even the matriarch.
It was seldom the women’s sole choice.
And, to be completely fair, most of the younger members of the family, male AND female, were pressured to do what the elders in the family wanted them to. That includes working without pay for family members, caring for younger family to enable both parents to work, contributing some measure of their income to family members (even those who had established their own families), and, yes, marrying by parental/family dictate, often someone who needs to acquire a green card.
That marital practice, sometimes called Chain Migration, is quite common among families of the Middle East. It doesn’t matter what religion, the practice is common throughout the culture.
I had friends who would talk about their future spouse while they were still in high school. Many of them knew that person either slightly, or not at all.
Often there was an age difference, or complete inability to communicate with them, due to language differences. Often, there was a connection in the extended family. Sometimes, it was done for money (that is NOT a new practice - the money exchange allowed the rest of the family to live off that income).
If the American was Catholic, they were told, “This is just a business arrangement, you’ll be able to divorce and marry who you want to next time.” Often, the husbands didn’t even claim marital rights to sex. If they did, and a child resulted, pressure was often put on the participants to stay married.
There is nothing that wrong with that kind of family structure. In many nations, that’s the norm. It is not, however, the typical American woman’s expectation. A non-Muslim, American man whose expectations included that structure would be derided as a sexist, and roundly condemned as oppressive.
But, immigrants from the Middle East and Islamic countries are given a pass.
On to economics!
Yes, I well know that most people see any discussion or reading on that topic to be a Big Snooze. In my first Econ course in college, I could hardly stay awake myself.
It was a long time before I ventured into that subject again. And, when I did, it was through the book “Basic Economics” by Thomas Sowell. Both easy reading, and quite informative. I highly recommend it.
Assuming you have that basic level of knowledge, you might find The Brownstone Institute’s post enlightening in it’s focus on current day issues that rose after the Lockdowns.
You might think that the attempted assassination of Trump was caused by incompetence.
This person thinks it was deliberate malice. You read it and decide for yourself.
Me?
I’m definitely leaning towards deliberate malice from the TOP of the agencies, with the active or passive assistance of the field agents.
Can’t say that RFK, Jr would be safer having the Secret Service providing his protection, now that they have - FINALLY - decided to do so.
