Hey, It Was a Busy Weekend!

Here’s a link to the first item that caught my eye today.

Purity, Sorcery, and Cancel Culture

I was on Ravelry (occasional visitor) when The Struggle began. It started with a Holier-than-thou type (Leftist) calling out a woman for support of Trump and his policies. Now, granted, this lady was more than a little strong in her support, but others had pushed abortion rights, the pussy hats, and other sentiments of a strong caliber. NO ONE had completely clean hands.

The Ravelry moderator COULD have handled this differenty:

• Ban ALL political discussion

• Create sub-channels for explicitly political discussions/patterns. These could have been labeled or contained a warning NOT to join unless you were in agreement.

• Moved contentious discussion to a free-for-all channel, and let the warring parties have at it

He did NONE of these. Instead, he posted an explicitly Pro-Leftist statement, in which he accused all that were in ANY way not fully Woke of being White Supremacist, and completely unwelcome in the community, whether or not they had ever expressed support for any non-Woke people/issues.

That caused a mass exodus from the site - including me. There are some alternative sites for knitters (either those supporting Trump/Right or non-political.

This next item I might believe to be a Babylon Bee satire - but it’s a true reflection of The Left’s thinking, and a dangerous one.

They want to ‘decriminalize’ rape.

I’m not kidding. The REAL problem with jailing rapists is not, as the Normals might think, that the woman/man/child involved was subject to a horrible attack that left their traumatized/injured.

No, according to The Left, it’s that so many Black men are in prison for rape.

So, their ‘idea’ is that both the victim and the criminal should meet and attempt to have their personal feelings about that attack validated. And, presumably, have a Kumbaya Moment, after which the rapist, now that he knows just how you feel about it, is properly apologetic and determined never to commit such a crime again.

Look, I’m all for forgiving your enemies - AFTER they serve their time, AND accept responsibility AND make restitution. IF the victim wants to.

I’m against FORCING her/him to spend even a split second of time in a room with him, listening to a Leftist conflict resolution specialist try to accept the self-serving Bullshit of the perp. And, being pressured to accept his ‘sincere’ regrets.

Unlike assault or murder, which can result from a sudden flash of temper, and not be intended at all, RAPE is a deliberate act, designed to hurt and humiliate the victim. It literally CANNOT be accidental, in any form.

But, hell, what do I know?

I’m so Anti-Woke I believe that if you do the crime, you do the time.
