As I noted in my previous post, I’ve temporarily lost my voice, and must rely on tech assistance to make my needs known.
A lot of people do that. From those having suffered permanent to their speaking voice, to those who struggles come from strokes or other misfortunes, we who cannot talk really NEED access to tech assistance.
That’s a whole different thing from the inability of Kamala Harris. In her case, it appears to be a combination of lack of knowledge about complex topics, not having done the hard work of learning to speak off the cuff in public without resorting to inane laughter or repetition of the same phrase (“It was a DEBATE! It was a DEBATE!”), and just plain anxiety or nerves.
That she didn’t use her years in office as VP to correct her deficiencies can only be accredited to laziness and complacency. Like it or not, the Presidency is a GIANT step up from marginally adequate VPs.
We’ve had iffy VPs in the past. I wasn’t all that impressed with Dan Quayle. Although not dumb, he seemed to be another Elite Member of the Club, who hadn’t prepared for the Presidency, wasn’t ready (fortunately, it was not necessary to test that), and, in retirement, did very little to dispel the idea that he had been out of his depth.
Lloyd Bensen, although probably capable, was too old. And, well, Kamala is just one more marginal Elite person, cast into a position that she isn’t able to fill.
It’s still not fully verified; to my knowledge, no one will to go on camera will provide the details of how it might have happened. So, don’t fall into the trap of spreading it around like Gospel Truth. Hold back. It will still be a good story.
Should you run across someone putting it out there on social media, thank them for the reference, tell them that you haven’t seen on-record verification, and suggest others hold their fire, and not re-post. We gain nothing from spreading unverified reports, we lose nothing by waiting a few days/weeks.
